Oreos & marshmallows. These were the first cupcakes that I ever made for anyone outside of family. They are the perfect birthday party cupcakes for kids!! I made them for a local pee-wee football league using their colors for frosting. I definitely prefer using gel coloring as opposed to the liquid, although it took a lot of the gel to get the blue close to the color of the team's blue.
You can check out the recipe HERE. I do sub milk for the water in this recipe and sometimes butter and a little more milk for the oil. This time I also subbed the yellow cake mix for a package of Golden Vanilla I already had in the pantry.
The first time I ever made these, I used her frosting. I loved it. This time I made my own vanilla buttercream** because I was afraid that the kids wouldn't so much like the cream cheese aspect as much as the straight sugar one...Either way, they are a hit. Everyone was shocked to bite into the cupcake and find a whole cookie!
**I should really try and work on a recipe for this but I find that I just eyeball the ingredients. I use butter, milk, vanilla, and confectioner's sugar until I get the consistency and taste that I like and a thickness I can pipe onto a cupcake without it melting into a pile of frosting in this humid state I live in!**
